As we reflect on a productive period at NARO, from November 2025 to February 2026, NARO is proud to share our recent collaborative efforts that deepen partnerships across North America, enhancing economic development in Asia and the Pacific. Our recent events and business outreach initiatives underscore the importance of strategic cooperation and engagement with private sector partners. Highlights from this period include ADB President Kanda meeting with Canadian prime Minister Mark Carney in Davos at the World Economic Forum, the launch of the ADB High-Level Private Sector Advisory Group, and the updated ADB energy policy.
From July to October 2025, NARO marked a season of dynamic engagement, highlighted by President Kanda’s official visit to Canada and the US to strengthen partnerships and promote sustainable development. In Canada, he met with government officials and business leaders to advance collaboration on climate initiatives, private sector engagement, and supply chain resilience, while in Washington, DC, he joined fellow Multilateral Development Bank leaders to prepare for ADB’s 2026 chairmanship of the MDB Heads Group. NARO celebrated its 30th anniversary with a forward-looking roundtable on future development cooperation, and continued to promote business opportunities through the ADB Business Opportunities Fair (BOF), which attracted strong participation from Canadian and US firms. From discussing the importance of development finance to strengthening engagement with Canadian and US stakeholders, this period has been marked by collaboration, innovation, and partnership. A key highlight this spring was welcoming President Kanda and ADB senior management to Washington, DC. While in DC, President Kanda met US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee Representative French Hill. NARO also held important engagements with Global Affairs Canada (GAC), including a Business Opportunity Fair in Calgary, Alberta, showcasing ADB procurement opportunities for the Canadian private sector.
