We are making plans for the upcoming meeting of presbytery to be held on October 6-7 at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. The church is located at 6400 Kavanaugh Blvd. just north of Cantrell Road. You are encouraged to book your lodging with your favorite travel website. If you are unfamiliar with this method, feel free to call me (501-663-2424) and I can assist you in making a reservation. To assist your search, let me offer a few options for your consideration.
Ferncliff has a limited number of rooms available, and they are offering a discounted price of $75.00. Ferncliff is about a 25-minute drive from Westover Hills. Contact Chellie at Ferncliff to make your reservation (501-821-3063).
The closest hotels to the church are the Markham House Inn and Suites (across from War Memorial Stadium and about 5-6 minutes), Guest Inn and Suites near St. Vincent’s Hospital (about 6-7 minutes) and the Four Points by Sheraton and the Staybridge Suites at University Avenue and Interstate 630 (about 7-8 minutes from Westover).
Downtown hotels will be about 12 minutes from Westover PC and West Little Rock Hotels (Chenal Parkway area – Shackelford area) will be about 15 minutes from Westover Hills PC.
Registration information should be available next week and look for the Presbytery packet to be posted on the website toward the end of September.
We look forward to welcoming Dr. Lester Ruth, Research Professor of Christian Worship at Duke Divinity School to be our preacher and leader of our theological discussion. Dr. Ruth is a historian of Christian worship and is passionate about enriching the worship life of our current congregations, regardless of style.
We will welcome two new pastors to the presbytery as Grant Wildwright will be examined for ordination and Ben Kane will be introduced as the new pastor of Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock.
