Hello Church Family,

This past year, I had the privilege of going on a number of amazing trips in Canada, the USA, Ireland, and the UK. I have always loved the outdoors and scenic places. I spent much of my childhood adventuring in the mountains and splashing in the ocean.

There is something very special about being out in nature and observing the beauty, complexity, and perfection of creation. Romans 1:20 says, “For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”

There are so many passages of Scripture that speak of nature: mountains, streams, forests, the sky, the sound of birds, thunder, and wind.

I believe there are so many references to nature because God wants us to notice and experience all He has made. Being in nature is also a valuable part of our worship and communication with Him.

Psalm 121:1–3 says, “I lift my eyes up to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

I always find that my heart quickly turns to prayer as I spend time outdoors in God’s creation. I wonder and marvel at His majesty and the beauty of all He has made. I can also hear from the Lord better. I am free from distractions. The second part of Psalm 23:2 says, “He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.”

I have had some grand adventures this year, seeing beautiful parts of the world, but that does not replace the beauty around me in my daily life. I was driving home from Manitoba last week after a hockey game and had to pull over just to stare at the stars. I was actually brought to tears by the beauty of it. Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the works of His hands.” Our God is amazing, and He made all this for us!

Take some time this week to be outdoors with Jesus! Don’t take anything that will distract you. Just walk or sit in His presence and allow Him to restore your soul. Listen and glory in His majesty, and have a very blessed week!

Jeremiah & Gerose – Time Away

Jeremiah & Gerose Latina came to Living Springs Church two years ago. From the beginning, they showed their desire to serve Jesus in any way He asked. They currently lead in worship and Youth Ministry in Moose Jaw, and Jeremiah supports worship and tech in both locations. What some of you may not know is that there have been prophetic words spoken over their lives pertaining to leadership in our church. One example was in the Moose Jaw location. On a Saturday night, a member of the church had a dream clearly showing a Filipino man in a leadership role in our church. The next day, Jeremiah & Gerose visited Moose Jaw for the first time. When the person saw Jeremiah, he approached Pastor Rob and told him, "I had a dream about that guy last night - he was a leader in our church."

We affirm the calling on their lives and in our church. To that end, we are excited to be working on job offers and supporting their immigration to Canada. As part of the immigration process, they are required to return to the Philippines for a number of months. Their last Sunday will be October 4th. We have worked with them to ensure that the roles that they currently fill in our church will be supported in their absence. Please join us in keeping Jeremiah & Gerose, and the immigration process, in prayer. We are grateful for the Lord's favour and continued guidance as He directs our steps.
