Comics Workshop with Alain McAlister

and Proud Art STL

Join us for a creative and welcoming comics workshop led by Alain McAlister, a local comic artist passionate about storytelling and self-expression!

In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore comics as an art form, learn how to craft our own stories, and discover how journal comics can help us process feelings and experiences. Through fun exercises and guided activities, you’ll get a chance to develop your own style and create something meaningful. We’ll wrap up with time to work on our personal comics and share (if we’d like!) in a supportive, community-centered space.

Alain McAlister is a nonbinary artist and illustrator from STL with a passion for graphic novels, comics, fiber arts, and community work. They graduated from Webster University with a BFA in Illustration, and since then have received a Best in Show award from Art Saint Louis and the Local Best in Show Award from the St. Louis Independent Comics Expo. They currently work as an illustrator, bookseller, and print shop assistant.
