Greetings Church Family,

You know, often we look at how small we are compared to God, and that is true, but we must learn to live (abide) in His presence and not look at ourselves, or we won’t be able to hear from Him or speak for Him or be used by Him. If we are looking at ourselves, we will always be inadequate in our own eyes for what He calls us to do.

But be encouraged, it will never be your adequacy or worthiness that causes Him to use you. We must not look at our inadequacy but look to His adequacy. We must stop looking at our unworthiness and look to His righteousness. When we are used, it is because of who He is, not who we are.

You know, the Lord got angry with Moses in Ex. 4:14 after Moses started to complain about how inadequate he was; why he couldn’t do what God was asking him to do. This only reveals that we are looking at ourselves rather than looking to Him. That, I believe, is one of the reasons why God is able to use so few people for what He wants to do.

You can never make yourself into who you should be. You need to trust God to make you into who you should be. He wants to use us, so let’s ask for grace not to look at ourselves and our inadequacies, but to look to Him who is adequate. Let us lean into Him and only Him when He asks us to do something. Let’s be willing to say, “Here I am, Lord, by your grace, here I am, use me, teach me to always look to You, never at myself.” And let’s embrace what He would have us do for Him. Let’s not make the mistake of feeling inadequate and that we need to be more than what God made us to be.

You don’t need to take it upon yourself to make yourself into who you should be. That, I believe, would be pride, and that caused the fall of man.

May God richly bless you,

Mark Ferrara
