Are you struggling with a co-worker’s approach to their work? Do you find yourself saying "kids these days...."?
The diversity of our workforce continues to expand and in 2025, there are five different generations in the workforce each bringing their own set of values, beliefs, and ways of completing work. Cross generational collaboration is critical for organizational success, but communication barriers have created tension in the American workforce for decades.
While the generations we are born into do not define us as individuals, they can provide clues to help us work together more effectively.
As the workforce changes, it’s possible to create engagement, loyalty, and high productivity!
Register to join us at Bridge Space on Thursday, March 20, as our speakers help us understand how-to "Bridge the Gap by Engaging the Workforce Across Generations."
Speakers include: * Liesl Hays, Owner, Aligned Talent Consulting * Melissa O'Daniel, Owner, Aligned Talent Consulting

| Connecting Our Community January Highlights |
|
Chamber After Hours Networking Event And Ribbon Cutting Ceremony |
| We visited the stunning R.D. Goppert Event Center (formerly known as The Activities Center) at Unity Village during our Chamber After Hours in January.
The newly renovated venue kicked off the festivities by hosting a grand opening ceremony to showcase the stunning backdrop to fellow Chamber members and special guests.
Lee's Summit Mayor Bill Baird spoke highly of the space and the visitors it will surely bring to the local area with its capacity of 350 to 1,000 guests.
Unity Village leaders such as CEO Rev. Jim Blake, COO Guy Swanson and VP of Outreach and Engagement Rev. Mark Fuss welcomed all to enjoy the venue's flexible main floor, balcony, in-house catering, ample parking and modern amenities including a state-of-the-art audio-visual system.
Performances by Quixotic and music by EnVee and her band made the night extra special.
We're excited to host an event there later this year! Check it out for yourself by visiting unityvillage.org or stop by 1901 NW Blue Parkway in Unity Village today. |

We heard from leaders throughout Lee's Summit who provided updates on upcoming developments and the latest news affecting our community.
A couple of takeaways:
- Lee's Summit Farmers Market will be much larger this summer!
- A new pickleball complex is in the works!
- UCM Lee's Summit has doubled its workforce class offerings in the last calendar year!
- MCC KC Longview's enrollment is up 5%.
- The new Hangar 2 at the airport in Lee's Summit will be home to the LSR-7 School District's Aerospace Academy!
- The Lee's Summit Visitors Bureau announced the hiring of their new Executive Director Cori Day.
- The Lee's Summit Chamber had a record-breaking 180 new members in 2024!
Special thanks to our guest speakers for their informative presentations and to our luncheon sponsor, Flourish Furniture Bank, for helping make it all possible. Thanks to the Gamber Community Center for hosting us and Hy-Vee for a delicious lunch. What a way to start the year off on the right foot! |

| Chamber Board Gives Back to Local Nonprofits |
| The Chamber celebrates its most engaged Board members each year by turning their dedication into meaningful community impact!
The four Board members who actively participate in the most Chamber events, programs, and meetings earn the opportunity to choose a member nonprofit close to their hearts to receive a $250 donation.
This results in a total of $1,000 given to four deserving nonprofits, all chosen by some of our outstanding Board members.
This year, those board members and their respective member nonprofit recipients are:
- Amy Schield — Pro Deo Youth Center
- Laura Maxwell — Lee's Summit Educational Foundation
- Rick Smetana — Coldwater
- Tina Walcutt/Kirby Asplund — Langsford House: Group Home for Boys
