Acuity Technical Solutions started in 2007 as an IT consulting company. Now, in 2022, the company has expanded. Learn more about some of the people who make up Acuity, starting with Darrell Brantingham.

Darrell has been working with the state of California since 1988. He has over 30 years worth of project management experience, and is Acuity's CEO and founder.

Q: What is your role for Acuity Technical Solutions?

I am the Founder and CEO of Acuity Technical Solutions LLC.

Q: How did you end up working in California SLED sales, and how long have you been working with the state?

I have worked with CA SLED since 1986, State of CA since 1988

Q: Why did you start Acuity Technical Solutions?

I started Acuity because I felt there was a place for a company with integrity and great customer service to bring IT solutions. I was convinced that my vast experience in selling IT Solutions of all kinds to SLED and the State would be received well by state IT and procurement staff. There are so many companies that take State of California business for granted and even treat state employees with contempt. My goal was to be different and to be known for our prompt response on quotes, issues, ordering and delivery. 

Q: What is your favorite part of working with the California government?

My favorite situation is knowing that Acuity made a significant difference for a state department or agency, especially if that customer had a tough situation that was not being responded to or resolved by our competitors. My goal is that Acuity will always be the best at what we do and we are already proving that.

Q: What would you say is the most difficult part of working with California government?

Learning and knowing the State’s procurement vehicles, processes and nuances are always the greatest challenge but it is a challenge I have met “head on” by becoming a renowned and recognized expert of doing business with the state of California.

Q: What was your proudest moment in 2022 for Acuity?

Acuity increased our business at the State in 2022 by a whopping 150% which is unheard of for an existing company. It means we are treating the state right and our reputation for outrageously good customer service is getting noticed by a lot of people. That is very gratifying for me as the Founder and CEO.

Q: What are your goals for Acuity in 2023?

Acuity’s goals for 2023 are pretty simple but do include growing once again at a substantial rate along with increasing our customer satisfaction to an even higher standard.
