On June 1st, the lab raised the Progress Pride flag for the second consecutive year, highlighting the diverse identities and backgrounds that exist at SLAC, and recognizing the unique contributions of the LGBTQ+ community at the lab and around the world. On June 12th, our LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group (ERG) hosted Rainbow Reels at Palo Alto's Aquarius Theatre in partnership with CORE ERG, and will host the labs's second Pride March and Social on July 12th.

On June 16th, the lab celebrated Juneteenth with the graduating 2023 CORE Science Institute (CSI) summer camp. The day started with a poster presentation showcasing the new and exciting activities the participants engaged in during the week of camp, an African American Scientist Gallery, and catering provided by Black-owned local restaurant Back-A-Yard Grill. We closed out the day on the Main Quad with a performance by Oakland's Bantaba Dance and Drums Ensemble and a nitrogen ice cream social.

Monthly celebrations remind us to reflect on the past, the progress we've made to date, and what more we can do for the future, while shining a light on SLAC's vibrant community.
