Politics at Play: How the Olympics Serve as the Frontline of Political Theater


AP reporters Will Graves and Eddie Pells will give a lecture on the intersection of sports reporting and international politics, especially as it applies to the 2026 Winter Olympics.


Join us for a thought-provoking lecture on how reporters have to keep current events and the state of international relations in mind while reporting on international events such as the Olympics!

Will Graves, National Sports Writer



Speaker Bio:

Will Graves has worked for nearly three decades as a sports journalist, including the last 20 years at the Associated Press. An award-winning national writer based in Pittsburgh, Graves covers a wide array of sports, including each of the the last nine Olympic Games. A native of the Washington D.C. area and a graduate of West Virginia University, Graves lives in suburban Pittsburgh with his wife Ellie and two teenage children.

Speaker Bio:

Eddie Pells is in his 34th year with Associated Press. Most of that time has been spent covering a variety of sports. He just completed coverage of his 14th Olympics. He also works on issues and people surrounding college sports and the intersection of money, power and sports. Based in Denver, Pells has a wife and 13-year-old twins who are bigger Broncos fans than he is.
