Literary Team Wins Region


The JHS literary team placed first at the GHSA Region competition held in Conyers. Led by Ms. Elizabeth Kelley, JHS students competed in writing, public speaking, singing and acting at the annual event.


In her first year at the helm, Kelley was joined by additional literary coaches, including Ms. Savannah McIlrath, Mr. Nick Helfrick and Ms. Elaine Wilder. The competition included multiple categories, including essay writing, extemporaneous speaking, oral presentation, chorus and solo performances.


Abigail Foreman placed first in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking and Sabryna Galendez placed first for Literary Analysis Essay Writing. Foreman, a junior, went on to win the state championship.
