Benefits of Building Stupas and Making Tsatsa

Teaching with Lama Chonam

Building stupas in honor of great lamas holds deep spiritual and cultural significance. These sacred monuments not only commemorate the wisdom and compassion of enlightened teachers but also serve as powerful symbols of peace, harmony, and protection. Constructing a stupa generates immense positive karma for all involved, helping to purify obstacles and foster spiritual growth. Additionally, stupas act as vessels for blessings, spreading positive energy to the surrounding environment and all beings who encounter them while inspiring future generations to connect with the dharma and the enlightened qualities of the lamas they honor.

Creating tsatsa—small clay images of buddhas or deities—to be placed inside the stupa further enhances its spiritual power. These images hold profound symbolic meaning and serve as offerings that embody devotion and the wish for enlightenment. Both building stupas and creating tsatsa are acts of deep faith, offering a tangible way to engage in Buddhist practice and ensure the continued presence of blessings in the world.
