DSC_5469.jpg

START WITH A GOOD FOUNDATION

The foundation for the greenhouse was constructed by the contractor. This wa a requirement of the City of Pittsburg Planning Department. It has to be exact in measurements to fit the greenhouse structure. It wasn't so e have to retrofit to adjust to the discrepancies.

PRE-DRILLING THE FOUNDATION

THE GREENHOUSE TAKES SHAPE

This is like a barn raising but no Quakers were involved. That most likely explains why it took us so long.

THE FRAMEWORK IS COMPLETED

The next step is to install the Polycarbonate panels. These are double-walled with an inner air chamber that helps to insulate the greenhouse. The pnaels also have a n exterior shield to block the UV spectrum which help prolong the life of the panels. Because of the concerns about vandalism at the site, the panels will be installed once the security system is up and and running.
