English Translation At the Edge of Difference: Reading Lemebel
This panel inaugurates the seventh edition of the New York City International Book Fair’s (FILNYC) homage to Pedro Lemebel. We turn to the printed page: the biting chronicle, the speaking body, the city as stage. We read his marks—desire, class, memory—and follow the thread he left in the work of writers today. What remains of his language when the music drops and the sentence begins? How does his voice sound now, across other times and territories? The guests attend to rhythm, cuts, and breath; they share what his work taught them: to write from the wound without compromise, to face the street head-on, and to hone the gleam—and the edge—of language. |
