What are We Learning:

Kindergarten: This week, students will finish their unit on loud and soft sounds. They will begin their unit on Listening by learning about different instruments and using their listening ears to identify them. Unit Test on high/low and soft/loud modules - Tuesday September 6th.


Second Grade: Students will begin their module on Melody. Through various music activities, they will recognize that melodies can move by steps, skips, and repeated notes. Unit 1 test on Beat, Rhythm and Melody modules - Tuesday, September 6th.


Third Grade: They will learn about the music, composers and orchestra of the Classical Period through singing, moving, and playing instruments. Unit 1 Test on Rhythm, Singing and Melody modules - Tuesday, September 6th.


Fourth Grade: Fourth grade will finish their module on Melody and begin their unit on Duration. They will identify and write whole, half, quarter, eighth notes and rests, and beamed sixteenth notes. Students will also learn about dotted quarter notes and tied notes through music performance activities. In addition, students will learn how to play open strings G C E and A on the ukulele. Unit Test on Rhythm, Singing and Melody modules - Tuesday, September 6th


Fifth Grade: This week, students will begin their module on Melody. They will learn about sharps, flats and naturals and about major scales and key signatures. Students will also learn how to play open strings G, C, E, and A on the ukulele. Unit Test on Meter, Rhythm and Singing modules - Tuesday, September 6th.

Kindergarten: Kindergarten will continue working with various manipulatives: parachutes, scarves, beanbags, hula hoops. At the end of the week, they will have an underhand throw checklist assessment. The underhand throw checklist will be completed this week.

Third Grade: Third grade will continue to play ultimate frisbee. This week, students will work on different catches, offensive and defensive strategies, and rule knowledge for the game. Friday, we will review the rules and then play the game. During the game, students will be scored on a rubric. The gameplay rubric will be completed 9/09.


Fourth Grade: Fourth grade will continue to play ultimate frisbee. Tuesday, we will work on catching drills and offensive/defensive strategies. Thursday, we will review the rules and then play the game. During the game, students will be scored on a rubric. The gameplay rubric will be completed 9/08.


Fifth Grade: Fifth grade will continue to play ultimate frisbee. Wednesday, we will work on catching drills and offensive/defensive strategies. Friday, we will review the rules and then play the game. During the game, students will be scored on a rubric. The gameplay rubric will be completed 9/09.
