What are We Learning: Kindergarten: This week, students will finish their unit on loud and soft sounds. They will begin their unit on Listening by learning about different instruments and using their listening ears to identify them. Unit Test on high/low and soft/loud modules - Tuesday September 6th.
Second Grade: Students will begin their module on Melody. Through various music activities, they will recognize that melodies can move by steps, skips, and repeated notes. Unit 1 test on Beat, Rhythm and Melody modules - Tuesday, September 6th.
Third Grade: They will learn about the music, composers and orchestra of the Classical Period through singing, moving, and playing instruments. Unit 1 Test on Rhythm, Singing and Melody modules - Tuesday, September 6th.
Fourth Grade: Fourth grade will finish their module on Melody and begin their unit on Duration. They will identify and write whole, half, quarter, eighth notes and rests, and beamed sixteenth notes. Students will also learn about dotted quarter notes and tied notes through music performance activities. In addition, students will learn how to play open strings G C E and A on the ukulele. Fifth Grade: This week, students will begin their module on Melody. They will learn about sharps, flats and naturals and about major scales and key signatures.
