April 7 - 13, 1946 was the 32nd Annual "Be Kind to Animals Week."

The theme of that year was "Veterans in Peace." The official poster that year was painted by S/Sgt. Dan Osher who was an art instructior at the AAF Convalescent Hospital in Pawling, NY.

It was inspired by the rehabilitation work that was taking place with the aid of the dogs who were the constant companions of former World War II fliers receiving care and treatments at the hospital.
