Pedagogy Groups

All piano teaching colleagues are invited to join pedagogy groups, where we share our knowledge, and deepen our professional relationships with each other to enhance our teaching practice.

Group 1: Follow-up meetings to digest Speaker Series meetings

Our speaker series is thought provoking, but we usually don’t digest it with our colleagues. This group will do just that.

Online: meeting times TBD based on the majority of the participant's schedules.

Organizers: Nina Grimaldi and Lilit Karapetian-Shougarian

Group 2: Improvising with our students. Group established in 2024.

No prior improvising experience needed, and all levels of skill welcome!

Each session focuses on a specific improvising skill and all participants have many chances to explore the topic with partners at the piano.

Led by both Nina Grimaldi and the other participants as they desire.

In person only: Ongoing group - meets once a month. In Belmont,

First Thursday of each month. 12:30-1:30.

(This group is almost full so, if there is enough interest, a second group may be formed on a different day. Please inquire.)

Group 3: Topics of Your Choice

Participants help organize meetings to discuss 1-3 topics of the group’s choice. 3-6 meeting a year, in person only /TBA

Example: How to develop a strong technique from the beginning (for example - How to use the thumb, how to develop pinky support)
